The Commission on Election (COMELEC), Palo Municipal Office receives the certificate of candidacy of the incumbent Palo Mayor Remedios “Matin” Petilla for her re-election bid.
Palo is a town in Leyte Province where the annual Leyte Gulf Landings anniversary is celebrated.
Helping the entire Paloanon to have a better life is the primary reason by Mayor Petilla seeks a second term as its local chief executive.
“I am very excited to continue on providing services that would be benefited by the people of my town. I feel on myself that serving them is very important for it is my calling to do so,” she said.
According to her, all the projects implemented by her administration on her first term serving as the mayor of Palo, would be pushed through on her second term.
Petilla reported that among the projects that hadbeen implemented during her first term includes the construction of the new municipal building, putting up of colorful street lights (that could only be seen in the Eastern Visayas), and the construction of Bangon river flood control revetment.
“The realization of the flood control project at Bangon River is a life to be considered by the community of Palo. This is a way of helping the people not to suffer from flood occurrence, especially for those who live along the river. We do not want to experience similar flooding that occurred in my town last March 2012, where thousands of households were affected,” she said.
Together with Petilla is her Vice Mayor candidate, lawyer Ronan Reposar and her councillor candidates : Wilson Uy, Junie Agner, Rey Lejarde, Myra Nalda, Jojo Chiquillo, Bunsoy Villas, Junjun Dolina and Ena Monge-Torres.
